Online Documentation for SQL Manager for PostgreSQL
AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is a chat panel built into SQL Manager for PostgreSQL. It helps you write SQL queries from a plain-language description, track down and fix errors, explain and optimize existing code, format queries and assess execution plans.
Note: SQL Manager for PostgreSQL does not come with a model of its own. Before you can use the assistant, register an LLM provider on the Endpoints tab.
The assistant panel: its position, layout and visibility.
Messages, replies and code blocks you can copy or insert into an editor.
Message input, model selection and the context size indicator.
Data sent to the assistant along with your request, and how to add it.
Measuring context size: what a token is and how it is counted.
Built-in actions that send a request with a ready-made prompt.
Comparing current and suggested text before applying the assistant's changes.
Reopening earlier conversations and managing saved chats.
Assistant options are collected in the AI Assistant section of the Environment Options dialog: LLM providers, prompt templates, chat history and context settings.
