General options


The General tab allows you to browse the general client/server configuration settings in groups: Tracing, Logging, Routing, Advanced.

 

Profile parameters - General options

 

 

Tracing and logging options can be configured for the server and for the client. Switch to the respective tabs of the Tracing / Logging groups.

 

 

Tracing

 

Trace level

Use the drop-down list to turn off tracing or select trace level: USER, ADMIN, SUPPORT.

 

Trace directory / Trace filename

Type in or use the ExplorerButton button to specify the directory and the name of the trace file.

 

CheckBox Client trace file name should be unique

Use the option to specify whether or not a unique trace file is created for each client trace session. When this option is selected, a process identifier is appended to the name of each trace file, enabling several files to coexist.

 

 

Logging

 

Log directory

Type in or use the ExplorerButton button to specify the directory for the client or server (depending on whether the Client or the Server tab is selected) log file.

 

Log file name

Type in or use the ExplorerButton button to specify the name of the log file for the client/server.

 

 

Routing

 

CheckBox Route the client to a Connection Manager protocol address

Routes the client to a protocol address for Oracle Connection Manager.

 

CheckBox Always use a dedicated server

Enables connections from this client use a dedicated server process, even if a shared server is configured.

 

 

Advanced

 

Wait duration for active connection probe

Use this parameter to specify the time interval (in minutes) to send a probe to verify that client/server connections are active.

 

Client registration ID

Set a unique identifier for this client computer. This identifier is passed to the listener with any connection request and is included in the Audit Trail. The identifier can be any alphanumeric string up to 128 characters long.

 

CheckBox Disable signal handling for Unix

Use this parameter to turn signal handling on or off for UNIX systems.

 

CheckBox Disable Out-of-Band break messages

If turned on, disables the ability to send and receive "break" messages using urgent data provided by the underlying protocol. Once enabled, this feature applies to all protocols used by this client.
