Cumulative Updates Available for SQL Server 2008 R2, 2008 SP1 and 2005 SP3

On August 16th, 2010, the software giant released Cumulative Update #3 for SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM and Cumulative Update #11 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 (SP3).

At the same time, customers relying on the predecessor of SQL Server 2008 R2 have been able to access and deploy Cumulative Update #9 for SQL Server 2008 SP1 for approximately a month now.

“Keep your system up to date with the most recent cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM.”

“This package contains all of the SQL Server 2008 R2 hotfixes that have been released since the initial release of SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM,” revealed Abhishek Sinha, Program Manager SQL Server Sustained Engineering.

The KB article associated with the Cumulative Update package 3 for SQL Server 2008 R2 is now also live and available to customers using the latest iteration of Microsoft’s data platform.

“Keep your system up to date with the most recent cumulative update package for SQL Server 2005 SP3. This package contains all of the SQL Server 2005 hotfixes that have been released since the initial release of SQL Server 2005 SP3,” Sinha said.

The KB article for the Cumulative update package 11 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 can be accessed via this link.

The last Cumulative update for SQL Server 2008 SP1 was released on July 20, 2010, with Sinha noting at that time:

“Keep your system up to date with the most recent cumulative update package for SQL Server 2008 SP1. This package contains all of the SQL Server 2008 hotfixes that have been released since the initial release of SQL Server 2008 SP1.”
